Exciting News!!

I want to begin by thanking everyone who purchased a raffle ticket for the Gallery Wrap Canvas Photo Collage. I am very moved by the Kelley family and what they are doing, and now they are a little closer to bringing their baby boy home.

Now, for some other exciting news. I am in the process of getting a REAL LIVE WEBSITE! I will still have the blog to keep everyone up -to-date and showcase the latest projects, but the website will be where you will go to purchase items and submit custom orders. I am hoping this will streamline the ordering process for both myself and you, the customer, and allow each of us to spend a little less time in front of the computer, and little more time with our children and families. I will still be emailing with people over custom orders, but the site should provide a lot more guidance and information on all products and processes.

I am really excited about this and can't wait until I am able to officially launch. In the meantime, if you normally visit the blog via the web address, www.thepattycakepress.com, you may have noticed some temporary changes. It no longer links you here, so you will have to come directly to the blog for a while to get all the current info.

Thanks so much to everyone who has made this venture such a success for me. Our family is very blessed by it :)

Custom Silhouettes

Custom Children's Silhouettes
I have been wanting to do a silhouette for so long of my son, so I finally decided just to take it digital and get it done. I am a big fan of the simple black traditional look. I printed mine on ecru cardstock and placed it in an oval frame. It's a very classic look. I will try to post a picture of it in the frame soon :)

The next 2 are a couple of variations on it that would make cute nursery, bedroom or playroom prints. They can be custom printed to match the colors in the room you plan to display it in.

If you are interested in ordering one of these keepsakes for yourself, please email me a photograph of your child's profile, along with the style and colors you would like. (My email address can be found to the right of this post.) The prints are 8x10 or 8x8 and cost $25 apiece.

Order Deadlines

I have been getting a lot of questions about turnaround time and deadlines for Christmas card and calendar orders.

Photo Cards: All Christmas photo card orders placed after November 26th (the day before Thanksgiving) may be subject to rush order charges in order to receive them in plenty of time for Christmas delivery. This will be dependent upon my workload at the time your order is placed. Many of my labs and presses get backed up at this time of year, and therefore turnaround times can be more lengthy than usual. So please be getting your photos together in the next week or two to allow us plenty of time to create a card you love.

Calendars: Calendar orders will be accepted up to 2 weeks after Thanksgiving without rush charges to ensure arrival by Christmas Eve. If you will be needing the calendar well before Christmas Eve, please contact me for the current turnaround times.

2008 Holiday Photo Cards are here. It was Christmas in July around here while I tried to get inspired for these new designs :)

All cards are available in both the Photo and Premium Paper formats. Premium Paper cards are printed on your choice of plain, linen, watercolor, high gloss or pearl cardstock. All premium cards are printable on every surface, front, back and inside. If you choose the premium option, I will custom design a coordinating back and/or inside with your additional photos and greetings.

Ordering process:

All photo cards are customizable. You can specify the text, fonts, colors, and photo style. I can convert your photos to black and white, sepia or vintage.

1. E-mail me: your photo(s), the name, size and type of the card you want to order, and any customization you would like.

2. I will email you with payment information. After I receive your payment, I will create your proof.

3. You will receive an email with a link to your online proof within 3 days. Look over your proof and check for any errors and/or changes you would like made. Once you are satisfied with your proof, send me an email officially approving it.

4. The cards are then printed and shipped. You should receive them 5-7 business days after final proof approval.

First off, I want to thank everyone who came out to the Gallery and Trunk Show this weekend. We had a great turn-out both days and we really appreciate everyone's support :) Now that the trunk show is over, I should have time to post all the new things I have been working on.

I had a couple of portrait appointments last week that I wanted to share first.

Tuesday was this little guy. These are his 3 month portraits. Here are some of my favorites from that session:

The next was a S's First Birthday Cake Smashing session. We will be using these to create her party invitations. I can't wait to get started on them.

Fall Gallery and Trunk Show

I wanted to post about some exciting things I have coming up soon.

As you can see above, the Patty Cake Press will be teaming up with The Cherry Tree 123 (see link at right) for our "first annual" Fall Gallery and Trunk Show. Come out and see our unique fall and holiday lines, you won't find these products anywhere else :) I will be offering specials for people who attend on these days, including promotions on holiday cards and '09 calendars, so be sure not to miss it!

Our Friday show will be in Nashville, in the Nipper's Corner area, near Brentwood. The Saturday show is in Nolensville near Sonic. No invitation is needed, so make sure to bring a friend. Children are also welcome and we will provide snacks and entertainment to keep them occupied while you shop.

I will also start booking appointments for Fall Family Photos and Holiday Family/Kids Portraits soon. Check back often for the dates and times on these as well as some "Early Bird" specials. Baby Pieces Panels

In one of my previous posts, I mentioned that I would post the finished product on a matted and framed baby pieces panel. The top one is the one that the client chose, and the bottom shows another option. I have several ways I can mat and frame these and there are unlimited choices as far as the center panel graphic. On both of these we have the monogram and the baby's birthday, but it could be a quote or another photo, anything you like. I took some pictures of them to share.

These are 16" square and they cost around $165 including the portraits ($25 sitting fee applies.)

Precious Little Pieces

I recently had the privilege of photographing this precious six week old baby girl. Ever since, I have been so excited to share these portraits but I didn't want to post them until her mom came over to view them. Here is her precious pieces panel. The great thing about this is that there are a few options for displaying it. We can add some color and design and print it on a canvas wrap, or you can have it matted and framed for a more traditional look. We are going to go with traditional on this, and I will be sure to post the "real life" version when it's framed and ready.

Unique Custom Invitations

Everyone knows I love a great THEME. I love coming up with themes for parties and really working on details to revolve around it. So it is so much fun for me when I am asked to come up with a custom invitation for a cool party. My most current project was for some close friends of ours. Their daughter's third birthday is coming up, and they are throwing an adorable "bug" party in their backyard. Now I can't take all the credit for this invite because they actually wrote the poem themselves, and it's pretty cute :)
The other invitation I have wanted to post for quite awhile. My best friend's brother had an awesome destination wedding and a big reception/party here at home when they returned. Couldn't post this one too early because too many people would have tried to crash this bash :) I wasn't able to go, but I heard it was a great time. This design was totally outside the realm of what I normally do, which I LOVED. The party was at a farm, but they didn't want a cheesy barn or cowboy themed invite. This one was inspired by the country music posters you see downtown, specifically Hatch Show Prints. (Check them out downtown if you ever have the opportunity.) I tried to give it that imperfect look that you only get from a real letterpress.

I've had a lot of people ask me to photograph their children and families lately. What a privilege it is! My most recent session was this past week. I photographed these adorable kids at the Agricultural Center. I love the results, I think we were really able to capture "them."
Doesn't this guy just look like a Ralph Lauren ad waiting to happen?

And his sister? Precious!!!

These were her nine month portraits and she couldn't have been more cooperative and sweet. She really came alive in front of this tiny baby grand piano! There were some great shots of her "singing", although I really think she is going be a very talented dancer or gymnast one day. She already has the most perfect splits with pointed toes, and a perfect "eleve`", as you can see here:
